Disposal of water at an appropriate disposal facility is the <br /> responsibility of the client. <br /> Sample containers are labeled in the field with the job number, sample location and depth, and <br /> date and promptly placed in iced storage for transport to the laboratory. A Chain of Custody <br /> record is initiated by the technician/geologist and updated throughout handling of the samples and <br /> accompanies the samples to a laboratory certified by the State of California. <br /> Chain Of Custody Record And Sample Analysis Request Form <br /> A chain of custody record for each container or sample is used to track possession of the samples from <br /> the time they are collected in the field until the time they are analyzed in the laboratory. The chain of <br /> custody record contains the following information: <br /> 1. Site Name <br /> 2. Signature of collector <br /> 3. Date and time of collection <br /> 4. Sample identification number(s) <br /> 5. Number of containers in sample set <br /> 6. Description of sample and container(s) <br /> 7. Name and signature of persons, and the companies or agencies they represent, <br /> who are involved in the chain of possession <br /> .. 8. Inclusive dates and times of possession <br /> 9. Requested analysis for each sample <br /> Samples are transported to the laboratory promptly to help ensure that recommended sample <br /> holding times will not be exceeded. <br /> Sampling Equipment Decontamination <br /> All equipment used for sampling is decontaminated prior to use. All equipment used for collection of <br /> more than one sample, such as bailers and sampling shoes, is decontaminated between each use to <br /> prevent cross contamination between samples. Decontamination is conducted on an impermeable <br /> surface or in buckets and all decontamination effluent is contained or recycled.
