L
Beacon Station No 641 April 22, 1999
Stockton California Work Plan
f
i SCOPE OF WORK
To evaluate the horizontal and vertical extent of gasoline-range hydrocarbons in the soil and
groundwater beneath the site, Horizon proposes to perform the following scope of work
Task 1 Obtain well permits from the SJC PHS/EHD, obtain an encroachment permit
from the SDPW, obtain an offsite access agreement from the property
owner(s) to the west of the site, prepare a site-specific safety plan, notify
Underground Service Alert (USA), and schedule contractors
Task 2 Utilizing a truck-mounted dnlling rig equipped with hollow-stem augers, drill
five 8-inch diameter soil bonngs (13-3 and MW-6 through MW-9) at the
locations shown on Figure 2 During advancement of the borings, soil
samples will be collected with a California modified split-spoon sampler and
subjectively analyzed using an organic vapor meter (OVM) at 5-foot intervals
or less
2.1 The initial boring to be drilled, B-3, will be to evaluate the lateral definition of
gasoline hydrocarbons detected in soil borings B-1 (wells VW-3 and VW-4)
and B-2 (well MW-1) Gasoline-impacted soil had previously been delineated
to less than 3 ppm (TPHg) in two consecutive 5-foot sample intervals in both
borings B-1 and B-2 (Appendix B Table 1, as reported by Horizon on
December S, 1997) If subjectively field-screened soil samples indicate
possible gasoline hydrocarbon impact at 55 feet bsg, then boring B-3 will be
advanced until subjective screening with the OVM indicates no hydrocarbon
impact in two consecutive soil samples Upon completion, the boring will be
abandoned by placing a bentonite/neat cement grout from the bottom of the
boring to surface grade in one continuous operation The grout will be placed
utilizing a tremie pipe or through the augers
1641-14 wp 4 HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC
