(ContiGroup) for the French Camp Grain Elevator facility at 9504 South Harlan Road in
French Camp (site). The Letter proposes changes to five of the previously concurred with baseline levels
required for Waste Discharge Requirements No. R5-2004-0160 (Order)based on sampling conducted in
February 2005. The following table shows the proposed baseline level changes:
MW-3B MW-4B
Previously Previously
New Proposed Concurred with New Proposed Concurred with
Parameter Baseline Level Baseline Level Baseline Level Baseline Level
Chloroform 100 ug/1 97 ug/1 No chane NA
Barium 774 ug/1 375 u 1 . 626 ug/1 370 ug/1
Total Dissolved Solids 1,100 mg/1 11090 m 1 No chane NA
Chloride I No chane NA 130 mg/1 120 mg/1
Regional Board staff concurs with the proposed revised baseline levels as listed above. For clarification,
these levels are baseline levels and because chloroform and chloride are breakdown products of carbon
tetrachloride, these are not cleanup goals for the site. ContiGroup is required to remove all pollutants
originating from the site from groundwater and from soil as technically and economically feasible such
that pollutant levels in groundwater are at background or non-detectable levels or if not feasible, not to
exceed water quality objectives.
As required by the Order, the Pilot Study Implementation Report is due no later than 60 days after
completing the GZVI injections. This due date will be set and confirmed by email correspondence. The
next monitoring report is due by 30 April 2005.
