HARLAN ROAD, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
Thank you for providing the 1 February 2008 Well Installation Work Plan (Work Plan) prepared
by your consultant, Huff & Huff Inc., for installation of injection, extraction, and monitoring wells
at the French Camp Grain Elevator. The Work Plan conforms to the October 2007 Pilot Study
Work Plan and Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (Regional Water Board)
staffs 5 December 2007 Groundwater Recirculation Pilot Study concurrence letter. When the
pilot study is underway, groundwater downgradient of the existing zero valent iron injections
will be extracted and reinjected into the iron. In the Work Plan, two injection wells, two
extraction wells, and one monitoring well are proposed. All wells are designed to intercept the
second water-bearing zone at about 80 feet below ground surface.
Regional Water Board staff concur with the Work Plan as proposed. Oversight of the
installation shall be conducted by San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department.
According to the proposed schedule, installation is to begin 21 April 2008, coinciding with a
slow business cycle at the French Camp Grain Elevator. A Well Installation Report should be
provided by 13 June 2008, which should include well boring logs, water quality data, as-built
construction diagrams, any difficulties with installation or deviations from the work plan, and
any other pertinent details. If you have any questions, you may contact me by telephone at
(916) 464-4680, by email at aterrellwaterboards.ca.gov, or by postal mail at the letterhead
ad ress,
i
AM /TERRELL
Private Sites Cleanup Unit
cc: Mr. Michael Infurna, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, Stockton
Ms. Linda Huff, Huff and Huff, Oak Brook IL
Mr. Robert Marty, Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc., Stockton
California Environmental Protection Agency
Cd Recycled Paper
