Hammer Lane, Stockton,California
PERM VIS
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The project site, which is the Toyota Town property at 2150 E:Hammer Lane, is
located in the northern .part of-Stockton;=Calif ornia."4 The site is surrounded by bath
commercial and residential properties: =The site is bounded to the south by a -
residential area and bounded to the west by an open field. To.the east of the property
are commercial properties and to _the north,.further extends the Toyota Town operation_ j
The site is currently an active auto mobile.sales and'service operation. Previously
located at this.site were one (1)2,000 gallon underground gasoline storage tank,
dispenser island, product lines and one (1) 1-,000 gallon underground waste oil:
storage tank. On July 20, 1991 SEMCO, removed :both underground gasoline and '
waste oil .storage tanks.'
Laboratory analyses of soil samples collected beneath these tanks-indicate that
concentrations of gasoline and.benzene werezin excess of State and County ,
= guidelines. Moreover,._concentrations of motor.oil and volatile organic halogens-
warranted additional site characterization work.
Six.(6) -boreholes were drilled in. 1991 and nine (9) soil samples were analyzed to - -
assess the vertical and lateral limits of the-contaminated soil as part of the site
characterization conducted:by,-AquaGeosci"ences, l;nc:_The drilling and sampling -
operations were conducted according to regulatory'guidelines`and protocol.
The:results of the laboratory an indicate that remedial measures are required.
The corrective action to clean-up the site include the excavation and removal of the
gasoline and waste oil impacte-d','soils= using an excavator, or similar earth-moving. i
equipment. Soil samples collected from the excavations will be capped, sealed and>
labeleb .a
in ccordance with-EPA!protocols and submitted-for-analyses to a California
Certified Laboratory. - -
Approximately 500 cubic yards 6f-soil will be removed during the excavation. Of the
500 cubic yards;approximately-300 cubic yards is hydrocarbon:impacted and will be
transported off-site to .an appropriate landfill. Prior to transport, the contaminated soil
will be laid on and covered by wisquene_until-analytical results are.received. Upon ;
receipt of all proper documentation and analysis necessary for disposal, the excavated
"contaminated" soils will then belremoved from the site and transported to Forward.- _.
Landfill, Inc. All formal disposal'procedures.and documentation will be acquired.
The excavation, removal of contaminated soils, backfilling with clean material and -
= transportation will be conducted by Jim Thorpe Oil., AquaGeasciences, Inc. will
provide the geological oversight of the-excavation .and disposal of the gasoline, and
waste oil impacted soil. , '
c
1701 Westwind Drive, Suite 1.01- • Bakersfield, California 93301
Y-
(805)'328-0962 0`FAX(805)328,1129
