Hammer Lane, Stockton.'California - ENVIRONMENTAC HCAL H
- - ,PERMIT/BERVIC96 €
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY = "
=- The project site, which is the-Toyota Town property at°2150 E. Hammer Lane, is
located=in the northern part"of Stockton,.California.`` The site is surrounded by both
commercial and residential properties.;-The site is bounded to the-south by a
residential area and bounded to-the west by anT'open field. To the east of the property !
are commercial properties and to the north; further extends the Toyota Town operation.
The site is-currently an active automobile sales and service operation. Previously'
located at this site were one (.1) 2,000 gallon underground gasoline storage tank, j
dispenser island, product lines .and one (1) 1;000 gallon underground waste al_ . .
storage, tank. On July 20, 1-991 SEMCO .removed_ both underground gasoline-`and
_ r- waste oil storage tanks.
Laboratory analyses of. soil samples collectedbeneath these tanks indicate that-
concentrations-of gasoline and benzene were_in excess of State and County.`
guidelines. Moreover, concentrations of motor oil'and volatile organic halogens
warranted additional site characterization work. -
Six (6) boreholes were drilled in-1991'and nine (9) soil samples were analyzed to
assess the vertical and lateral'li iks of the contaminated soil as part of the site
a
characterization conducted by AquaGe' osciences, Inc. -The drilling and sampling
= operations were conducted according to regulatory guidelines andl protocol.
The results of the laboratory analysesindicate that remedial measures are required.
-=The corrective action to clean-up.the site include the excavation and removal of the
gasoline and waste oil impacted soils . using-an-excavator, or similar-earth-moving`
;equipment. Soil samples collected from the excavations-will-be:capped, sealed and
labeled ira accordance with EPA protocols and submitted for analyses to a California-
Certified Laboratory.
Approximately 500 cubic'yards of soil will be removed during the excavation. Of the
500 cubic yards, approximately 300 cubic yards"Js hydrocarbon impacted and will be
transported off-site to.an appropriate landfill.- = Prior-to transport, the contaminated soil
will be-laid on and covered by visquene until analytical results are received. Upon
receipt of all proper-documentation and analysis necessary for disposal, the°excavated
"contaminated" soils will then be removed from the site and transported to Forward -
Landfill,:lnc. All formal-disposal procedures and documentation will be acquired.
The excavation, removal of cont aminated'soils,-backfiIli ng with clean material.and
.transportation will.be conducted by Jim Thorpe Oil. AquaGeosciences, zlnc. will4
r provide the geological oversight of the.excavation and disposal of the gasoline and
Waste oil impacted soil. - -
1701 Westwind Drive, Suite 101Bakersfield, California 93301
(805)328-0962 - FAX(805)328.1°129 _ ....
