MacKinnon Environm6ttal Consulting
Specializing in Ground Water and Soil Contamination 2834 San Antonio Drive
\X7alnut Creek, California 94598
(415)930-9272
March 30, 1990
Mr . Manny Vierra
MSV Construction Co.
1009 Villa Maria Court
San Jose, CA 95125
Dear Mr . Vierra:
SUBJECT: PROPOSAL TO COLLECT AND ANALYZE 8-10 SOIL SAMPLES
PROPOSAL NO. 490STK
We are pleased to submit this proposal for a site assessment for
the property at the corner of Waterloo and Harding Streets in
Stockton, California. This proposal outlines the scope of work,
timetable, cost estimates for drilling, soil sampling/analyses and
report preparation.
BACKGROUND
We understand that the site is approximately 3 acres in size and
used to have one or two underground diesel storage tanks. The
location of the old tanks is known and will be supplied to us.
Information supplied to us by San Joaquin (SJ) County suggests
that the ground water in this area is between 6 and 60 feet below
ground level .
SCOPE OF WORK
The objective of the work will be to collect 8 to 10 soil samples
and analyze these samples for the presence of diesel fuel .
- The soil samples will be taken at the following locations :
1 . A soil sample will be collected from one end of each tank pit
in the native soil - if discernable - below the tank backfill
material .
2. A soil sample will be taken immediately downgradient of each
tank location if it is possible to assess the direction of ground
water flow. The driller will advance the augers in a test hole to
15 feet below grade or to the water table, whichever comes first.
A sample will be taken at the capillary fringe just above the
water table, providing that water table is no deeper than 15 feet
below ground surface. This sample depth may indicate whether
ground water might be impacted .
If there are no clear indications of the ground water flow
direction or if water is deeper than 15 feet, then a second sample
will be collected at the opposite end of the tank pit (s) from the
first sample (s) .
