f 11/06/01, 10:40 FAX 916 372 9065Wallace-Kuhl ljj002/002
Meeting Notes
November 5,2001 1
i
Attendees:
Hop Essick,Granite Construction Company
Harlan Knoll, San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Kurt Balasek,Wallace-Kuhl&Associates
Hope explained that City water was now on the property but that they were not yet hooked up.
He also said that the Kleinfelder well had been abandoned and that the dust control well would
be abandoned and replaced by the on-site domestic well. Harlan explained that he was a strong
advocate for closing the site but needed assurances that the changeover to City water completely
severed any connection between the domestic well and the on-site buildings.
We discussed the USTCF and it was decided that Hop should apply to the Fund. It was
recognized that Granite would be a category D site and that reimbursement would come at a
much later date. I told Hop we would get him a proposal to prepare the application and help him
go through his old records. Harlan said he would prepare a letter directing Hop to abandon the
dust control well because it was a significant potential sensitive receptor for the UST-related w,
contamination. r
Harlan will:
• Discuss with Marti(RWQCB)the 1998 Closure Request Report
• Ask about resampling and which wells will require sampling
• Prepare the letter requesting abandonment of the dust control well
Hop will:
• Meet with architects to discuss new building
` • Schedule water hook up with City for existing building
• Abandon dust control well under permit
• Have his crew terminate connection between the existing buildings and the domestic well
prove through system test that no connection exists between domestic well and buildings
• Convert domestic well to irrigation and dust control Only
• Discuss pave-over of MW7 with his crew and
• Attempt to locate well head
Kurt will:
• prepare proposal for USTCF application preparation
• Obtain abandonment permit(unless driller does this)
• Coordinate with Clark Drilling to rip casing to 100 feet then place sand slurry mix and
cut off top five feet {
HADeptR2088.09 Granite F=ch CampNov.5,2001 Meeting Notes
i
