PHS/EHD has the following comments for your consideration.
Groundwater samples were collected on April 8, 1994 after contamination was detected in
the trip blank collected during the March 28, 1994 sampling event. Groundwater
contamination continued to be evidenced in samples collected on April 8, 1994 and in fact,
groundwater contamination concentrations detected have increased, possibly as a result of
the 3 feet increase in the groundwater elevation at the site.
The increase in concentrations detected in the off site monitoring well also suggests that
contamination has migrated off site.
As PHS/EHD indicated in correspondence dated June 2, 1994, additional information was
requested by August 15, 1994, as addendum to the Problem Assessment Report. PHS/EHD
also requested that you submit information which indicates that the primary source of the
contamination evidenced has been eliminated. PHS/EHD is concerned that if remediation
is not initiated in a timely manner that the extent of contamination will continue to increase
along with the total cost of remediation.
If you have any questions, comments, or wish to schedule a site inspection, please contact
Mary Meays at (209) 46&0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
L41 tcllc- a4ll
Mary Ways, Senior REHS Dianebhston-, REHS
Site Mitigation Unit Supervisor
NIK1612HAM
cc: Elizabeth Thayer, CVRWQCB cc: John Bobbitt, RESNA
a Di kion of San ,loaquin County Health Care Services
