N
1612 Hammer Lane Page 2
The recently installed monitoring well, MW6, defined the extent of groundwater
contamination in the downgradient direction.
While the problem assessment report did delineate and describe the extent of contamination,
it failed to provide cross sections, maps with nearby wells that may influence the gradient,
preliminary vapor extraction test results and an evaluation of remedial alternatives. Please
refer to the Appendix A, Reporting Requirements of the Tri-Regional Board Guidelines for
clarification of information which is generally provided in problem assessment reports.
The problem assessment report submitted indicated that groundwater remediation was not
warranted at this time and that the existing vapor extraction wells should be sufficient for
soil remediation at the site. Please evaluate the effects that vapor extraction may have on
groundwater remediation.
Please submit the information requested by August 15, 1994 in addendum for PHS/EHD's
` consideration. Also please submit information which indicates that the primary source of
f the contamination evidenced has been eliminated.
If you have any questions, comments, or wish to schedule a site inspection, please contact
Mary Meays at (209) 46&0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
f I
Mary Meays, Senior REHS Diane M.
