Mr Kyle Chnstte Project 0805-140 03
October 5, 1995
Page 7
• A minimum of two soil samples from the boring and the composite sample from
the drill cuttings will be submitted to an approved laboratory certified by the state
of California The samples will be analyzed for TPHG and BTEX by modified
EPA Methods 8015 and 8020, respectively In addition, the samples collected
from the drill cuttings will be analyzed for total lead using EPA Method 7410 and
corrostvtty, ignttabiltty,and reactivity
Monitoring Wells Installation
• Once the new tanks have been installed, EMCON will observe a licensed well
driller dnll up to two 10-inch-diameter soil borings The purpose of these wells is
to replace monitoring well MW-1 and possibly well MW-2, which may require
abandonment to construct the new tank complex Therefore, soil samples will not
be submitted for laboratory analyses If abandonment of well MW-2 is not
necessary, only one boring will be drilled The proposed boring locations are
shown on Figure 2 The borings will be drilled to a depth of approximately
65 feet bgs Two 4-inch-diameter monitoring wells will be installed to the borings
(MW-7 and MW-8 )
• Undisturbed soil samples will be collected for classification and laboratory
analyses at 5-foot intervals or at soil changes from the ground surface to the total
depth of the borings The soil samples will be classified using visual and manual
methods, according to the Unified Soil Classification System Drill cuttings will
be stored on site and placed on and covered with visqueen Four soil samples will
be collected from the dell cuttings to be compostted into one sample at the
laboratory for evaluation of disposal options
• The composite sample from the drill cuttings will be submitted to a state-certified
laboratory The samples will be analyzed for TPHG and BTEX using EPA
Methods 8015 and 8020, respectively In addition, the samples will be analyzed
for total lead using EPA Method 7410, and for corrostvtty, ignttability, and
reactivity
• EMCON will develop the monitoring well(s), and a licensed surveyor will be
contracted to survey the location of the well(s) with respect to other on-site
wells The new well(s) will be placed on the quarterly groundwater monitoring
Program
•
SACU 1ARC0105481DFSIGN108051400 3AS-45 wpt 3
