Mr Kyle Chnstte Project 0805-140 03 <br /> October 5, 1995 <br /> Page 7 <br /> • A minimum of two soil samples from the boring and the composite sample from <br /> the drill cuttings will be submitted to an approved laboratory certified by the state <br /> of California The samples will be analyzed for TPHG and BTEX by modified <br /> EPA Methods 8015 and 8020, respectively In addition, the samples collected <br /> from the drill cuttings will be analyzed for total lead using EPA Method 7410 and <br /> corrostvtty, ignttabiltty,and reactivity <br /> Monitoring Wells Installation <br /> • Once the new tanks have been installed, EMCON will observe a licensed well <br /> driller dnll up to two 10-inch-diameter soil borings The purpose of these wells is <br /> to replace monitoring well MW-1 and possibly well MW-2, which may require <br /> abandonment to construct the new tank complex Therefore, soil samples will not <br /> be submitted for laboratory analyses If abandonment of well MW-2 is not <br /> necessary, only one boring will be drilled The proposed boring locations are <br /> shown on Figure 2 The borings will be drilled to a depth of approximately <br /> 65 feet bgs Two 4-inch-diameter monitoring wells will be installed to the borings <br /> (MW-7 and MW-8 ) <br /> • Undisturbed soil samples will be collected for classification and laboratory <br /> analyses at 5-foot intervals or at soil changes from the ground surface to the total <br /> depth of the borings The soil samples will be classified using visual and manual <br /> methods, according to the Unified Soil Classification System Drill cuttings will <br /> be stored on site and placed on and covered with visqueen Four soil samples will <br /> be collected from the dell cuttings to be compostted into one sample at the <br /> laboratory for evaluation of disposal options <br /> • The composite sample from the drill cuttings will be submitted to a state-certified <br /> laboratory The samples will be analyzed for TPHG and BTEX using EPA <br /> Methods 8015 and 8020, respectively In addition, the samples will be analyzed <br /> for total lead using EPA Method 7410, and for corrostvtty, ignttability, and <br /> reactivity <br /> • EMCON will develop the monitoring well(s), and a licensed surveyor will be <br /> contracted to survey the location of the well(s) with respect to other on-site <br /> wells The new well(s) will be placed on the quarterly groundwater monitoring <br /> Program <br /> • <br /> SACU 1ARC0105481DFSIGN108051400 3AS-45 wpt 3 <br />
