l
Date: May 19,2003
Quarter: 151 Quarter,2003
• DISCUSSION:
Total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline(TPHg),benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes were reported in
wells sampled this quarter at concentrations that were generally consistent with previous quarterly monitoring events.
Fuel oxygenates including methyl tert-butyl ether (MtBE), tert-butyl alcohol (TBA), 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA)
and ethanol were also reported in groundwater samples collected this quarter. Concentrations were generally
consistent with historic data with the following exceptions; MtBE was reported at a historical low of 0.88
micrograms per liter(µg/L)in VW-4, 1,2-DCA was reported at a historical low of<0.5 µglL in well VW-4, ethanol
was reported for the first time in MW-1 and MW-6 at concentrations of 870 pglL and 45 pg1L respectively. Other
fuel oxygenates were reported as below laboratory reporting limits. Groundwater elevations generally increased in
site wells relative to the previous quarter. The approximate groundwater flow direction at the site was to the
southeast with an average gradient of 0.03 ft/ft.
Three site visits were conducted to optimize and maintain the SVEIAS system. Approximately 26 lbs of TPHg were
removed during the first quarter 2003,with a cumulative mass of 1,718 lbs since startup(09128100).The SVE system
was in compliance with the San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District permit to operate.
This report is based on data, site conditions, and other information that are generally applicable as of the date of the
report, and the conclusions and recommendations herein are therefore applicable only to that time frame.
TABLES
Table 1 Groundwater Elevation and Analytical Data
Table 2 Fuel Oxygenates Analytical Data
Table 3 Floating Product Monitoring Summary Well VW-51)
Table 4 Operational Uptime Information of the Soil Vapor Extraction System
Table 5 Flow Rates and Analytical Results of Air Sample Analyses
Table 6 Extraction and Emission Rates
FIGURES
Figure 1 Groundwater Elevation Contours
Figure 2 Groundwater Analytical Summary
Figure 3 Influent Concentrations vs.Time
Figure 4 Cumulative Mass Removed vs.Time
APPENDICES
Appendix A Field and Laboratory Procedures
Appendix B Laboratory Analytical Reports,Chain-of-Custody Documentation, and Field Data Sheets
4
K-1Wpmcem\J5 BP ARMW54811 QTR 031548 GWMR 1Q03_doe Page 2
