3.0 Field Investigation
.1
3 Preparation
The following will be performed prior to the initiation of the groundwater well installation:
• Approval of this work plan will be obtained from the EHD.
• A site specific health and safety plan will be prepared and approved by a Shaw
Certified Industrial Hygienist(CIH).
• The proposed drilling location will be marked and Underground Service Alert (USA)
will be properly notified of the anticipated drilling locations and date of field
activities.
• An independent utility locating service will geophysically evaluate the proposed
drilling location for underground utilities.
• Drilling/Well Construction permits will be obtained from San Joaquin County.
• Right-of-Entry and Encroachment. It is believed that the proposed drilling location is
a moderately-trafficked roadway owned by the City of Stockton. All necessary such.
r- agreement, contracts, and permits will be obtained.
3.2 Geophysical Evaluation '
A limited geophysical evaluation will be made for underground utility hazards at the proposed
drilling location,.
3.3 Drilling and Soil Sampling
Theg roundwater monitoring well will be constructed within soil boring. The borehole will be
j drilled by a C-57 licensed drilling subcontractor, under permit issued by San Joaquin County.
The soil boring will be advanced in two stages. A wide-diameter boring will be advanced to
approximately 52 feet bgs. The boring will be at least 12.5 inches diameter in order to
accommodate a metal conductor casing. After the conductor casing has been installed and set,
an approximately 6- 5/8th-inch diameter boring will be made through the bottom of it, to an
approximate depth of 61 feet bgs.
It is expected that seven intact soil samples will be analyzed from the well bore. The samples
will be collected from the following approximate depths (bsg):
• 16 feet,
• 27 feet,
I
SacDP•NtcacDPR005V"88018800401A5acWPParkinson.doc 3.1
9.6.05
