The samples will be analyzed -for TPH-G, Benzene, Toluene,
Ethyl benzene and xylenes (BTEX) constituents under EPA methods 8015 (modified) and 8020,
in series. In addition, the samples will be analyzed for fuel oxygenates TAME, DIPS, ETBE,
MTBE, TBA, EDB and 1,2-DCA, using EPA method 8260B.
3.5 Monitoring Well Construction
Shaw will construct the monitoring well through a metal conductor casing that will be .
permanently set to 54 feet bsg. The casing will be cemented into place to ensure that there is no
potential for the vertical migration of groundwater within the well structure or within any vertical
pathway created by construction of the well. The casing will be placed within a
12-inch-diameter or greater borehole. Jax,0
c fit` c y„vvsf c
The initial boring will be made using auger or other drill method. The conductor casing will be
lowered into it and the casing will be effectively centered within the borehole. A
mechanically-mixed cement-bentonite grout will be placed, by tremmie pipe into the annular
space surrounding the conductor casing. The annular space will be filled from the bottom up to
near the ground surface with slurry.
No sooner than 24 hours after placement of the annular-spade grout, drilling and construction of u
the final well bore will begin. A hollow-stem auger or other method will be used to drill a
6- 5/8-inch or greater diameter hole into the earth at the bottom of the cased borehole. This
boring will be extended to approximately 60 feet bgs. The completed monitoring well will be
2-inch-diameter, drilled within a 6 /8-inch nominal diameter boring that will be made through
the previously installed conductor casing. The well will be finished below grade in a
,,,12-inch-diameter traffic-rated box with a locking lid. Com` `
A two-inchhdiameter Schedule 80 PVC well string will be lowered to 60 feet. Centralizers will
be used to keep the well string straight sufficiently plumb and centered enough that the sand pack
can be evenly distributed aroud it. The well string will consist of flush-threaded
ASTM-conformable bottom cap, 5-foot-46gth of factory-slotted screen, and unperforated(blank)
S-DP-N.isa IDM20051 01 01880040IA5acWPParkinson.doc 3-2
 96.05 r
