T <br /> 02 March 1999 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 98-0448 <br /> Page 8 of 10 <br /> 4 3 GROUND WATER MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION <br /> Installation of one ground water monitoring well is proposed utilizing a truck-mounted drill rig <br /> equipped with 8-inch diameter hollow stem augers, the well will be advanced to a depth of <br /> approximately 35 feet bsg Hollow stem augers will be pressure cleaned prior to borehole <br /> advancement The well will be completed utilizing 2-inch diameter, schedule 40 PVC well casing <br /> and will utilize 20 feet of slotted well casing (0 010-inch screen size) All PVC well casing will be <br /> emplaced through the hollow stem augers A#212 Lonestar Lapis Luster sand will be poured down <br /> the annulus between the well casing and the inner wall of the hollow stem auger The filter pack will <br /> be placed adjacent to the screen from the bottom of the boring to a point approximately 2 feet above <br /> the top of the screen Following placement of the filter pack, a surge block will be inserted into the <br /> PVC casing and lowered then raised(surged)repeatedly for approximately 10 minutes Thereafter, <br /> -the depth to the top of the filter pack will be measured and bentonite chips (annular seal) placed <br /> above the filter pack and hydrated with clean tap water The remaining annular space will be sealed <br /> with portland cement A well construction diagram is depicted in Figures 4 <br /> Following completion,the ground water monitoring well will be surveyed for grade by a California- <br /> licensed surveyor <br /> 4 3 1 Soil Sampling Procedures <br /> Relatively undisturbed soil samples will be collected while advancing the ground water monitoring <br /> well using a California modified split-spoon sampler fitted with 2-inch diameter, 6-inch Iong brass <br /> sleeves Upon removal from the sampler,the sample sleeve will be separated with a clean soil knife <br /> The exposed ends of the second sleeve will be covered with Teflon sheets, capped and sealed with <br /> tape Soils encountered in the borings will be visually classified by an AGE geologist in accordance <br /> with the Unified soil Classification System(USCS) Additionally, soil samples will be field screened <br /> for the presence of volatile organic compounds using an organic vapor meter (OVM) <br /> Following sample collection, each preserved sample sleeve will be Iabeled with the boring location, <br /> depth,time, date and sampler's initials Appropriately sealed and labeled samples will be placed in <br /> a chilled container under ice and transported under chain-of-custody procedure to a DTSC-certified <br /> laboratory for analysis of TPH-g, BTEX, MTBE and fuel oxygenated compounds <br /> 4 3 2 Equipment Decontamination <br /> All sampling tools used for sample collection will be thoroughly rinsed with clean water after being <br /> washed with a solution of Alconox All down-hole drilling and sampling equipment will be pressure <br /> Advanced GcoEnvironmcnial,Inc <br />
