Interna tional
Incorporated (SECOR) is pleased to respond to comments in the San Joaquin County
Environmental. Health Department's (SJCEHD), August 29, 2006 letter, included: as.
Attachment 1. The SJCEHDI letter was in response to SECOR's June 27, 2006 Additional
Assessment Report, documenting additional site assessment.. The additional assessment
included the installation of wells MW-8, 9, 10, and 11 for MTBE plume delineation and
groundwater extraction feasibility testing for remedial options. Hydraulic testing was
performed to evaluate the feasibility of groundwater extraction as an interim remedial
method to prevent methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE):from:moving further offsite,
Based on their discussion of the site with California.Regional Water Quality Control Board
(RWQCB), the SJCEHD letter requested the following;.
• Additional information on the proposed oxygen :injection to facilitate enhanced
biodegradation of MTBE at the site. This should potentially include a geochemical
evaluation of the groundwater to show that generated wastes would not result in the
need for Waste Discharge Requirements.
• Addresses of site(s) with similar characteristics where this technology has been
successful in remediating MTBE in groundwater.
• Evaluate the alternative of extraction and disposal of impactedgroundwater rom the
wells with the highest concentrations on an interim basis.
1n a.dltion, the letter requesteda work plan for defining the downgradient extent of the
MTBE plume be submitted to'SJCEHD by October 2, 2006.
H:Vesponse tag 29-06:`SJEHD..Itr and wp'submittal 2:doc
