VP- cz� The soil borings will be sampled every five feet for soil lithology and select soil samples maybe sent to a laboratory for analysis. Two borings/monitoring wells (MW-12 and MW-14) will be continuously cored. The soil types encountered and other pertinent data will be recorded on a field log and soil will be described in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS). ERG will conduct field screening of the soil cuttings using an Organic Vapor Analyzer(OVA) and the results will be incorporated into the boring logs. Each of the borings will be installed by a geologist and overseen by a California Registered Geologist or Professional Engineer. Wellheads will be completed using flush- mounted Christy boxes matched to the existing surface. Soil samples will be collected in brass or stainless steel sleeves, labeled, stored in a cooler with bagged ice, and transported to a California-certified environmental laboratory under chain of custody protocol for analysis. The samples will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) and diesel (TPHd) benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, xylene (BTEX), methyl-tertiary butyl ether(MTBE), and oxygenates using EPA Method 8260B. 5.1 Well Development,Purging and Sampling Twenty-four hours after well construction has occurred, well develop` me nt wilLhe conducted using a surge block for a period of 1 hour on e_ac�h weTi. Once wells have been developed,the w`e1Ts will be purged of of least three well volumes to obtain water that is representative of surrounding aquifer conditions. Temperature, pH, and conductivity measurements will be conducted before, periodically during, and after the purging process. Stabilization of these measurements shall occur prior to collection of a sample as indicated in ERG's Standard Operating Procedures (Appendix A). Groundwater samples will be collected in volatile organic analyte (VOA)vials and analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, xylene (BTEX), methyl-tertiary butyl ether(MTBE), and oxygenates using EPA Method 8260B. 5.2 Waste Management Any soil cuttings generated during drilling activities will be placed in DOT-approved drums and labeled appropriately. The soil and water will be stored onsite for disposal pending analytical results obtained from assessment activities. 6.0 REPORTING At the completion of site activities, and after the laboratory analytical data has been received, ERG will prepare a report describing the sampling procedures, laboratory analytical data, and test findings. The report will contain recommendations, as appropriate, for additional work that might be necessary.
