4.0 SITE ACCESS
Prior to commencing fieldwork, Environmental Remediation Group (ERG)will
communicate with property owners to discuss the proposed scope of work, obtain
permission and access agreements, and to address any concerns that the individuals may
have regarding this additional assessment.
5.0 MONITORING WELL CONSTRUCTION
ERG proposes to install four groundwater monitoring wells (MW-12 through 15) and an
additional two groundwater monitoring wells (MW-16 and MW-17) if further definition
of the plume is needed. All wells will be constructed of 2-inch diameter polyvinyl
chloride (PVC) casing with 0.02 inch slot size and#2 Monterey Sand. Each well will be ND
sealed to the surface using bentonite pellets with a 2-foot concrete cap and traffic-rated
well vault. Wells will be installed using a truck-mounted drilling rig with a continuous
flight, hollow-stem auger. The augers will be steam cleaned prior to drilling each boring.
Well screen construction and well depth vary with each well based on its location and
purpose. Well screens will not exceed 20 feet in length. The details for each well are
indicated below and are shown in the attached well diagrams (Figure 4).
• Well MW-12 will be installed to intercept Sand C. Sand C is located betweerL.5,4..
and 65 feet bgs.and is between 15-to 25-feet thick. The proposed screen interval
for this well is 65 to 85 feet below ground surface (bgs) based on the cross
sections preparey tratus Environmental, Inc. The actual screen interval and
total well depth will be determined in the field based on soil lithology and well r—P,
logging results. The well will be constructed of 2-inch diameter polyvinyl
chloride (PVC) casing inside an 8-inch diameter borehole.
• Well MW-13 will be installed as a well cluster with two separate wells (MW- c P 1 3
13AB and MW-13C). Well MW-13A/B will be screened from approximately 5 .7 '
to 25 feet bgs to intercept Sand A and Sand B. Well MW-13C will be installed to p -.
intercept Sand C with a proposed screen interval of 65 to 80 feet bgs based on the
cross sections prepared by Stratus Environmental, Inc. '17re actual screen interval 5° `
and total well depth will be determined in the field based on soil lithology and L
well logging results. The wells will be constructed of 2-inch diameter polyvinyl
chloride (PVC) casing inside an 8-inch diameter borehole.
• Wells MW-14 and MW-15 will each be completed as a well cluster with two
separate wells (MW-14A, MW-14B and MW-15A, MW-1513). These wells have P `
been segregated into two separate screen intervals to avoid any possible cross
contamination that could occur between the two sand layers in the event that there
is no intersect between the layers in this area. Based on the cross sections
prepared b Stratus Environmental, Inc., the proposed screen intervals for these
wells is approximately 5 to 20 feet bgs.fo>;SandA and 35 tQ_45 feet.bg&for.SaiW
B. The actual screen interval and total well depth will be determined in the field
based on soil lithology and well logging results. The wells will be constructed of G,
2-inch diameter polyvinyl chloride (PVC) casing inside an 8-inch diameter 7ty
borehole. ;
Environmental Remediation Group Page 5 Site Assessment Work Plan
Project No.0406 Joe's Travel Plaza
