1
San Joaquin County Motorpool Facility February 15,2001
' Groundwater Monitoring Report
Fourth Quarter 2000
Water levels were measured from the top of the well casings representing the well head survey
points A slight Liquid Phase Hydrocarbons (LPH) sheen was observed in monitoring well MW-1
No LPH was observed in monitoring well MW-2
tBased on the data, the average depth to groundwater measured at the SITE during this sampling
event is approximately 43 78 feet below ground surface (bgs) An accurate groundwater gradient
' and direction of flow could not be calculated due to the limited number of wells at the SITE The
regional direction of groundwater movement in the vicinity of the SITE is approximately in a
westerly direction Groundwater elevation data is summarized in Table 1 and shown on Figure 2
' A historical summary of groundwater elevation data is summarized in Table 3
4.2 Groundwater Sampling
' Prior to collecting groundwater samples from each well, groundwater was purged using a 4-inch
diameter PVC Bailer A minimum of three (3) casing volumes of water were purged from each of
the monitoring wells, until measurements of pH, electrical conductivity, temperature and turbidity
stabilized Groundwater was allowed to recharge to at least 80 percent of the static level prior to
collecting the water samples The PVC bailer was decontaminated using a detergent wash and two
' rinses in between purging each well Copies of the well sampling field data sheets are presented in
Appendix B
' Groundwater samples were collected using a new disposable bailer for each well The groundwater
samples were placed in appropriate sampling containers, stored at <4° C, and hand delivered to a
laboratory under chain-of-custody protocol
The purged groundwater was stored on-SITE in two (2) Department of Transportation (DOT)
approved 55-gallon steel drums pending the results of the laboratory analysis
5.0 WASTE DISPOSAL
' On February 13, 2001, the two (2) drums of purged groundwater were transported from the SITE to
Seaport Environmental of Redwood City, California, for disposal Transportation and disposal
services were provided by Integrated Wastestream Management, Inc (IWM) of Milpitas,
California A copy of the groundwater disposal documentation is presented in Appendix C
6 0 LABORATORY ANALYSES
' Groundwater samples collected from the two (2) wells were analyzed for
' • Volatile Organics Compounds with Oxygenates using EPA Method No 826013, and
• Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons for Gasoline and Diesel (TPH-G/TPH-D) using EPA Method
8015M
1
2
