San Joaquin Motor Pool Facility Health and Safety Plan <br />' Materials required for this decontamination are to be provided b the subcontractor and <br /> 9 p Y <br /> I will consist of plastic sheeting,polyethylene bags, sufficient water for soaping and <br /> rinsing, several large tubs, TSP soap, brushes, hand soap,toweling, and 55 gallon drums <br /> Heavy Equipment: All contaminated equipment utilized by a contractor will be <br /> decontaminated by the contractor before it is used at another excavation locale or before <br /> the equipment leaves the site Any contaminated material, other than soil samples will be <br /> I placed in metal drums and stored on-site, according to Federal, State and local storage <br /> regulations, until the material is analyzed for future disposal <br /> The following equipment/materials will be utilized for decontamination of the heavy <br /> equipment 55 gallon drums, polyethylene bags, labels and signs, trough/wash area, and <br /> portable steam cleaner <br /> 5.6 Safety Equipment <br /> E ui ment <br /> IWhile tasks of soil sampling are in progress, the subcontractor is to provide a first-aid kit, <br /> eyewash kit, fire extinguisher and sorbent material for personnel at a site where work is <br /> being performed <br /> • 5.7 Work Limitations <br /> Field personnel will not be allowed to eat, drink or smoke within the exclusion zone <br /> These activities will be permitted only in areas designated by the SHSC <br /> Due to the potential for upgrading to level C protection, no personnel utilizing contact <br /> lenses for their eye correction will be allowed to work at the station Prescription glasses <br /> must be worn at all times by those personnel requiring eye correction <br /> Personnel with facial hair, except those with mustaches that do not interfere with the <br /> proper fit of the respirator, will not be permitted into work areas as facial hair interferes <br /> with fitting of respirators <br /> IWork will be performed during daylight hours only <br /> Formal periods of rest forpersonnel may be required in hot weather and/or during <br />' strenuous activity <br /> 5.8 Disposal of Materials Generated On-Site <br /> Contaminated or "clean" material, generated through the site works, may be stored on the <br />' station property in a secured area However, it will be the responsibility of the client to <br /> dispose of both contaminated and "clean" materials to appropriate facilities <br /> t <br /> t9 <br />
