Also, in that conversation you stated that you may
propose interim groundwater pumping from site wells at the time of future sampling activities in an
attempt to reduce groundwater contaminant concentrations at the site. In the next quarterly report,
please provide PHS/EHD clarification of your plan of action regarding the assessment and
cleanup for this site. Also, please identify a point in time when the approach you propose will
be evaluated for the overall effectiveness of reducing the levels of contamination evidenced in
the groundwater at the site.
In future quarterly reports, in addition to the tabulated form of reporting, please also provide the site
data in the following format:
* a graph of groundwater elevation data over time
* a graph of groundwater contaminant concentrations over time (you may also graph
dissolved oxygen over time)
* a graph of groundwater contaminant mass over time
Information provided in this format will better document cleanup efficiency over time and demonstrate
any trends in the groundwater contaminant plume at the site.
If you have any questions or wish to discuss this letter in more detail, please contact Linda Turkatte,
Senior REHS, at (209) 468-3441.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Linda A.
