Nestl6 USA, Inc. —Rii, CA October 31, 2006 Public Participation Plan e 4 PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PLAN (PPP) ACTIVITIES This section discusses the PPP's goals and objectives as well as the techniques Nestle intends to employ to meet them. This section also provides the names of contacts for information about the Project activities. ' 4.1 FACT SHEETS Fact sheets are information flyers written in non-technical language to inform the community of key issues about the investigation and/or cleanup activities involving the ' Project, explain the findings, and discuss the schedule and opportunities for public input. Fact Sheets may include the following information, when appropriate, depending upon the timing and status of the Project: ' • Project history and former Facility map, Regulatory agency actions and status of regulatory program, ' • Description of issues, Schedule of activities, ' • Process for public involvement, • Location of information repository, • Name, address, and phone number of contact persons, • Summary of investigations, ' • Summary of feasibility study and selected remedy, and Description of cleanup alternatives. Fact sheets will be distributed describing planned field activities to individuals on the mailing list. Future revisions of the PPP will include the community mailing list, along with the following as pertinent and appropriate: • Representatives from the city of Ripon as well as county officials, • State and/or Federal agency representatives, ' • Elected members of the state and/or federal legislatures, Representatives of community groups, ' • Principals of schools and a representative of child day care centers near the former Facility, ' Local business people, including people who own or lease former Facility parcels, • Local residents, and ' • Other interested parties. ' 4.2 PUBLIC REPOSITORY The Ripon Public Library serves as a public repository of Project documents. It currently houses documents such as the following:
