' Nest16 USA, Inc. —Rip , CA October 31, 2006
Public Participation Plan
' The committee will serve to provide feedback to Nestle from the general public on issues
related to the Project and will assist Nestle in effectively handling those issues.
' 3.3 PUBLIC INTERVIEWS
As of October 31, 2006, Nestle is in the planning stages for community interviews. A
summary of any future community interviews will be included in an updated PPP. The
Summaries of Interview Findings will fall into four different sections:
• Concerns about the Project,
' • Communication with Local and other Government Officials,
• Level of Community Concern, and
' . Preferences for Information Dissemination.
' 3.3.1 Concerns about the Project
Interviewees will be asked about specific concerns on the Project. These will include
past, present and future issues of particular concern. These concerns might include
environmental issues, historical impacts, health risks, and effects of remediation.
3.3.2 Communication with Local and Government Officials
Persons interviewed for the PPP will be questioned about what contacts they have had
with other city, county, state, and federal government officials.
' Questions will include the evaluation of the responsiveness given by these officials to
questions and concerns which the public might have.
' 3.3.3 Level of Community Concern
Interviewees will be asked about their knowledge of concern by friends, neighbors and
public officials. Queries of relationships between the public and government officials will
' help establish the degree of involvement between them. Inquiries about concerns by
neighbors will help establish the level of community concern by those people who do not
respond to inquiries and letters.
' 3.3.4 Preferences for Information Dissemination
Current methods of dispersing information to the public include fact sheets, community
meetings and information placed in local libraries.
Fact sheets state "what was found" at the former Facility and its vicinity. Future
information on fact sheets is provided in section 4. below.
' Community meetings present concerned people with the status and scope of
investigations, the investigation methods, possible chemical findings, including chemical
concentrations and locations, and planned cleanup approaches.
At this time Ripon Public Library provides public access to investigation and remediation
reports.
1
