I'tlffoodf •
Nestle Foods Corp., 230 Industrial Avenue, Ripon, CA 95366(209) 599.4161
September 29, 1988
Mr. Gary Reents FNS. ^✓2
California Regional Water Quality
Control Board989
CentralValley /jT SF
1 1
3443eroad
Sacramento, CA 95827-3098
Subject: Nestle Foods Corporation -
Transmittal of Draft Phase III Remedial
Investigation (RI) Report
Dear Mr. Reents:
Enclosed please find the subject document for your review and comment. The
Phase III RI Report documents the recent field activities; presents and
interprets the data; and recommends additional studies. The additional
studies include installing one additional off-site well nest; installing
two additional wells in the Clay Zone Sand Unit; installing one Lower
Aquifer Zone monitoring well; and an approach to determine the effects of
various pumping centers on the regional flow field. The objectives of the
Phase IV activities are to further define the regional hydrologic
conditions and the extent of groundwater contamination.
A schedule for conducting the Phase IV activities is also presented in the
RI Report. This schedule assumes that written approval of the Phase III
activities is received from CRWQCB by October 24, 1988. We would like to
meet with you prior to this date to discuss any comments you may have on
the Phase III report. We would like to tentatively set a date for a
meeting on October 17, 1988, after you have had an opportunity to review
the report.
If you have any questions or comments, please give me a call.
Very truly yours,
NESTLE FOODS CORPORATION
Fr/k Etein
Plant Manager
cc: W.
