bentonite pellets will be placed above the sand and wetted. The hole will then be
grouted to the surface with a cement grout and finished with a locking cap. The
PVC pipe and locking cap will extend above the ground surface in unimproved
areas, but will be set within a traffic-rated Christy box set flush with the ground
surface in paved areas.
Two water level readings will be made including the initial reading. The second
reading will be made about four weeks after completion of the drilling program.
8. Restoration/Completion of Boring.
Borings except for piezometers will be backfilled with cement grout upon
completion of drilling. The grout will be pumped into the boring using a tremie pipe
so that the drill fluid is completely displaced. The grout will be brought to about
one-foot from the surface; after the grout has taken initial set, the remainder of the
hole will be filled with local soil.
9. Disposition of Drill Fluid and Cuttings.
Drill fluid and cuttings will be spread evenly on the ground around the boring site.
10. Geologic Mapping.
OCC will perform geologic reconnaissance mapping along accessible portions of
the alignment above. Mapping will be done at a scale of 1:24,000 and will record
the geologic units along the alignment.
11. Completion of Boring Log and Geologic Map.
We will finalize boring logs and the geologic map for inclusion in the preliminary
design report.
12. Schedule.
We estimate that about two to three weeks will be required to complete the program
described in this work plan. This schedule is contingent upon: weather and access
to the sites; availability of entry permits, drilling permits, and drilling equipment;
and the soils laboratory's backlog.
Table 1 Boring Locations - Alignment 2
Boring General Location Site Location Access
No.
2-8# NE 1/4 of NW 1/4 Sec.21 On N-S ridge @ 1/2 sec.
