• Figure 2 shows a contour map of groundwater elevation data collected on January 24,2005. The
indicated direction of groundwater flow shown in Figure 2 is almost due west which is
approximately parallel to the slope of regional topography in the area. The hydraulic gradient
depicted in Figure 2 was calculated to be 0.0197 fl/ft. A gradient of that magnitude is consistent
with a fine grained, low hydraulic conductivity formation(low yield wells). It is interesting to note
that a contour map of elevation data collected on January 6th and not including results from MW-3,
indicates a flow direction toward the northwest at approximately the same gradient.
4.2 Results of Well Sampling
Table 3 shows a summary of laboratory analytical results for groundwater samples initially
collected from the four monitoring wells. Copies of the laboratory analytical report sheets are
included as Appendix C. Each sample was analyzed for a total of 35 constituents which include 6
organic compounds, 12 inorganic compounds, 7 nitrogen compounds, and 10 general water quality
parameters.
• Table 3 also lists available regulatory concentrations for each tested parameter. The regulatory
concentration data are provided for reference only and may not be applicable or enforceable at the
site. Regulatory limits were found for only 15 of the 35 constituents listed in Table 3. All values
which exceed regulatory levels have been highlighted.
There are three items worth noting from the data in Table 3. First, the concentration of chloroform
in MW-4 is reported at 7.0 micrograms per liter(gg/L) and the regulatory concentration for
chloroform is 6.2 gg/L. The concentration of chloroform should be watched carefully in subsequent
sampling data because it is a known constituent in the wastewater pond. Second, the analytical
detection limit for bromodichloromethane and dibromochloromethane is reported at 0.5 µg/L and
the regulatory concentrations for these compounds are reported to be 0.18 µg/L and 0.12µg/L,
respectively. The method detection limit identified in the approve Workplan is consistent with the
reported detection limits. Finally, well MW-3 is indicated to have anomalously high concentrations
of pH,total dissolved solids(also reflected in specific conductance), and bicarbonate alkalinity. It
seems unlikely that those values are representative of the aquifer. When considered together with
•
7
