The PAR
presents site characterization information, an evaluation of remedial action alternatives, and a plan of
work to complete vapor extraction testing.
as gasoline (TPHg), benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and xylenes
Total petroleum hydrocarbons
(BTEX)were identified from 15 feet to 40 feet below the former 1,000-gallon gasoline underground
storage tank(UST). Maximum concentrations in soil show TPHg at 31,000 milligrams per kilogram
(mg/kg),benzene at 70 mg/kg, and total lead at e
38 gas n ounte ed inor concentrations GroundZeroo
luene were
terwestimated the
identified from 40 to 60 feet where first groundwa
remaining mass in soil at 4,550 pounds of gasoline, and.12 pounds of benzene.
I
Ground Zero evaluated three remedial alternatives in the PAR:
1. Installing an asphalt cap,
I
2. Soil excavation and off-site disposal, and
3. Soil vapor extraction (SVE).
agrto
ee w
ast effective and technically feasibles retcoemmendataonte petroleum
SVE was identified as the moith
GroundZero
hydrocarbons in soil at the site. Vapor
5-day vapor extraction test to determine if SVE is feasible for soli remediation
concentrations will be monitored, and selected air samples will be submitted for analysis. Board staff
believe the outlined plan of work for SVE testing is appropriate and necessary as corrective actions for
this site.
California Environmental Protection Agency
CaRecycled Paper
The energy challenge facing California is real.
