The Workplan describes completing one soil
boring to groundwater at the center of the former gasoline fuel UST, and three additional borings to
laterally define soil contamination. Soil samples will be collected at 5-foot intervals for lithology
determination, field screening, and laboratory analysis including MtBE.
The Workplan is approved with the following comments:
• Auger drilling methods in contaminated soil zones can promote cross contamination of deeper
soil and groundwater. Therefore, if soil contamination is identified in the boring at the center of
the former UST, care must be taken to prevent cross contamination of the groundwater sample.
• As required in our 28 August 2000 letter, all soil and groundwater samples must be analyzed for
TPHd, TPHg, and BTEX by EPA Method 8015/8020, and for five fuel oxygenates, ethanol,
methanol, 1,2-dichloroethane, and ethylene dibromide by EPA Method 8260B.
By 4 December 2000, submit a report of findings to this office describing the results of your soil and
groundwater investigation. Please contact me at least two business days prior to any site work or
sampling to schedule a field inspection appointment.
If you have any questions or comments, please call me at(916) 255-3115.
d
Marty Hartzell
Associate Engineering Geologist
cc: Ms. Sandy Gill, SWRCB, UST Cleanup Fund, Sacramento
Ms. Wennilyn Fua, SWRCB,UST Cleanup Fund, Sacramento
Ms. Lori Duncan, San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Stockton
Mr. John Lane, Ground Zero Analysis, Incorporated, Escalon
California Environmental Protection Agency
Ca Recycled Paper
