Kennedy/Jenks Consultants
September 2008 are also summarized in Table 3. Annual monitoring has been performed since
2002 for the domestic wastewater system monitoring wells (DWS-1 through DWS-3), and these
monitoring data are provided in Table 4.
Constituent concentration contour maps for TDS and nitrate-N (August 2009) are provided on
Figures 8 and 9, respectively. These concentration contours represent chemical data collected
on 26 August 2009 (GW-1 through GW-7) and 18 August 2009 (GW-8 through GW-14). The
TDS and nitrate-N data from the onsite monitoring wells and the reconnaissance groundwater
samples collected from the two northern parcels indicate some variability that is difficult to
attribute to specific activities.
TDS. TDS concentrations in groundwater wells at the western, downgradient edge of the facility
(wells GW-5 and GW-6) and at the northern, cross-gradient edge of the facility (GW-9, GWA 1,
GWA 3, and GWA 4) are typically higher than those in wells installed along the southern
perimeter of the facility (wells GW-1, GW-3 and GW-4). The TDS concentrations at monitoring
wells along the western and northern edges of the facility are also consistent with those
measured in wells throughout the region.
Nitrate. Nitrate concentrations in groundwater wells at the northern, cross-gradient edge of the
facility (GW-9, GWA 1, GW-12, and GWA 3) and downgradient of the historic process water
ponds (GW-7) are typically higher than those in wells installed along the southern perimeter of
the facility (wells GW-1, GW-3 and GW-4) and western perimeter of the facility (GW-5 and
GW-6).
Groundwater quality trends are depicted on Figures 10 through 12.
The current estimates of background TDS and nitrate concentrations for the facility were
calculated using the 95% upper confidence limit (UCL) of the mean (USEPA 2009). The data
used for the concentrations shown below were collected in August 2009 from GWA through
GW-4 and GW-8 through GW-14. Wells GW-5, GW-6, and GW-7 were excluded from the
background analysis, because these wells are adjacent to the existing 15.5-acre LAA. In this
dataset, nitrate-N is used to represent total nitrogen, as concentrations of total Kjeldahl nitrogen
were all below analytical reporting limits.
Chemical 95 Percent Upper Confidence Limit Concentration
TDS mg/I 665.5 _
Total Nitrogen (NO3-N), mg/I 20.5
In the future, after LAA acreage has increased, background concentrations will be approximated
by calculating the 95% UCL on the six perimeter wells: GW-1, GW-13, and the four new wells
described in Section 3.2.2. Background concentrations will be updated annually to incorporate
new data.
Hydrogeologic Investigation and Groundwater Sampling and Analysis Work Plan, Page 7
Sutter Home Lodi Winery, Lodi, California
gV$-9rou0ddmnWbM&086500506svt bome109-repom*dr le SUbhyko work plan,MxLda
