Brown Sand,Inc.
Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures Plan Page: 14
June 3, 2020
3.4.9 Partially Buried and Bunkered Storage Tanks (40 CFR 112.8(c)(5))
There are no partially buried or bunkered storage tanks present at this facility.
3.4.10 Heating Coils (40 CFR 112.8(c)(7))
There are no tanks present at this facility that require heating.
3.4.11 Effluent Treatment Facilities (40 CFR 112.8(c)(9))
Brown Sand, Inc. does not operate an effluent treatment facility for storm water
generated on the site. The facility's storm water is contained onsite and allowed to
infiltrate into the subsurface.
3.5 Potential Discharge Volumes and Direction of Flow(40 CFR 112.7(b))
Tank loading/unloading procedures are closely followed as outlined in Section 3.11.1 in
order to prevent an overfill spill from occurring, and the Discharge Response Plan, located
in Section 4.0, outlines the facility's spill response procedures. The reasonably expected
modes of major failure or accidental release in which product could be spilled from the
facility are as follows:
3.5.1 Waste Oil and Bulk Oil Area (Map Location #1)
This area contains one (1) 1,000-gallon single walled aboveground storage tank
containing waste oil, one (1) 500-gallon single walled aboveground storage tank
containing motor oil, one (1) 350-gallon single walled aboveground storage tank
containing transmission oil, and one (1) 350-gallon single walled aboveground
storage tank containing hydraulic oil. All these tanks are located within a vaulted
concrete secondary containment structure. The following table summarizes the
possible modes of failure, maximum quantities, rates of flow, and direction of flow
for a spill in this area. Facility spill response procedures are closely followed as
outlined in the Spill/Discharge Response Plan, Section 4.0.
