18 November 2008
AGE-NC Project No. 02-0939
$ 100,000 annually.
• Erardi Ventures has very limited funding resources. Furthermore, Erardi Ventures will be
unable to continue remediation at the site without reimbursement from the USTCF.
Suspension of the LOC for Erardi Ventures will create a severe financial hardship.
Explanation of Why Erardi Venture Believes the LOC Suspension is Inappropriate
• Approximately $450,000 has been reimbursed for the site since 2002. Cleanup at the site has
been initiated via the DPE system; termination of funding by the Cleanup Fund could
jeopardize the effective remediation of soil and ground water at the site.
• Ground water beneath the site is significantly impacted with petroleum hydrocarbons . The
site is considered a "high priority" by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department (SJCEHD).
• Additional investigation is required at the site, Discontinuation or decreasing the pace of
remediation at the site would likely result in the further migration of the contaminants in the
subsurface.
• Without USTCF funding, Erardi Ventures would incur a severe financial hardship. With
limited financial resources, Erardi Venture could likely not continue to operate without
timely reimbursement of costs from the USTCF.
Erardi Ventures Desires the LOC Suspension Be Lifted and Funding Be Expedited
• Erardi Ventures desires to maintain a good working relationship with both the SJCEHD and
the Regional Water Quality Control Board and proceed with remediation and additional
investigation at the site. Lifting of the LOC suspension will allow Erardi Ventures to
continue implementation ofremediation. Expedited funding will allow continued assessment
of the off-site extent of impacted soil and ground water.
