Main Street, Manteca, California 2.2 Soil Vapor Probe Installation The soil borings for the on-Site temporary soil vapor probes SV-1 and SV-2 will be hand- cleared to approximately 3 feet bgs and the soil vapor samples will be collected at approximately 5 feet bgs using a direct drive technique such as GeoProbeg. Following the soil sampling and soil vapor sampling, the borehole will be grouted from the bottom of the borehole to grade with neat cement grout. The locations of SV-1 and SV-2 are illustrated on Figure 1. Construction design may be adjusted in the field d n litholo and current field g y � e base o gy conditions. A diagram of the temporary soil vapor probes is presented in Attachment B. ! 2.3 Soil Sample Handling and Analysis Each soil sample collected for soil parameter analysis will be covered at each end with Teflon TM sheeting, capped with plastic end caps and labeled. Soil samples will be submitted under chain-of-custody protocol to Kiff Analytical, a California State-certified analytical laboratory. Soil samples will be analyzed for the following parameters: density, organic carbon content (by the Walkee Black Method), soil moisture, effective permeability, porosity, and grain size distribution analysis. 2.4 Soil Vapor Sampling Protocol Soil vapor samples will be collected at least 20 minutes after probe installation from a depth of approximately 5 feet bgs. Soil vapor sampling will be conducted in accordance with Department of Toxic Substance and Control (DTSC) guidance included as Attachment C. • Soil vapor samples will be collected at least seven days after any measurable precipitation event. I • Hydrated bentonite will be placed around the drill rod prior to sampling to inhibit surface air migration down the outer.portion of the drill rod. • Prior to sampling, Closure Solutions will perform a leak check by placing isopropyl alcohol on the sample line fittings and the top of the vapor probe tubing (where the _ tubing exits the boring).
