Analyses are to be
conducted by GeoAnalytical Laboratories, Inc. a State certified laboratory.
Additional soil samples will be analyzed for soil physical properties such as porosity,
permeability, dry bulk density, organic carbon content, moisture content, and nutrient
concentrations (P & N). A bacteria enumeration assay for both aerobic and anaerobic
hydrocarbon-degraders will be conducted by CytoCulture International, Inc. located in
Point Richmond, California.
All samples will be recorded on a Chain of Custody and placed in an Ice Chest cooled with
real ice (Blue IceO once it is demonstrated to the SJC PHS/EHD inspector that 5°C or
below can be maintained with the use of Blue Ice@) for transport to the lab.
3.5 Groundwater Sampling
A travel blank provided by the laboratory will accompany the sample vials from the time
they are picked up from the lab to the time they are delivered to the lab. This travel blank
should be listed on the Chain of Custody but will be analyzed only if all samples contain the
same contaminants.
All water sampling equipment will be thoroughly cleaned before and between sampling to
prevent cross contamination. A single water sample will be collected from the termination
point at each boring. The boring completed using the cone penetrometry test method will
'J have discrete water samples collected at specific points within the aquifer to determine the
vertical extent of groundwater contamination at this site. There will be a total of at least six
(6) water samples collected for laboratory analysis.
All water samples collected during the installation process will be analyzed or extracted
within fourteen days according to their EPA methods. The samples will be analyzed using
EPA method 5030/LUFT for gasoline petroleum hydrocarbons, EPA method 8020 for
BTX&E compounds, and EPA Method 8260 for oxygenates.
J
Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Sampling Methods
~ Immediately prior to sampling, water levels and well depth measurements will be taken in all
wells at the site. Each well will be evacuated using a stainless steel bladder pump, which
does not introduce air into the water column, or a Teflon@ bailer. The pH, temperature,
