' Boyett Petroleum,Manteca
Third Quarter 2002 Groundwater Monitoring Report
Page 6
Resources (DWR) Central District in Sacramento, California, contacting public water purveyors, visually
inspecting the area within 500 feet of the site, and interviewing residents located in the site vicinity. DWR well
1 records were cross-referenced with Assessor's Parcel Maps and city street maps. This process helped identify
well records pertaining to wells estimated to be within the study area. DWR well records may include the well
owner's name, a well location map, the address where the well is located, and a log of the well.
' Eighty-seven separate documents, pertaining to wells associated with Sections 32 and 33 of Township 1 South
and Sections 4 and 5 of Township 2 South, Range 7 East, were provided by the DWR. The DWR records were
reviewed in conjunction with Assessor's Parcel Maps, a topographic quadrangle map (Manteca USGS
Topographic Quadrangle), a city street map, and the area reconnaissance. Sixty-nine of the well records
pertained to wells located outside of the study area. Eighteen well records pertained to twenty-three wells that
were verified to be within the study area. The information provided by the DWR indicated that one of the
twenty-three wells located within the study area had been destroyed.
5.1 WELLS IDENTIFIED WITHIN 2,000 FEET OF THE SUBJECT SITE
An area reconnaissance was conducted on foot (500-foot radius) and via automobile (2,000-Foot radius). The
study area is a mixed-use area with homes of varying ages predominantly located to the west. Condor was
unable to locate twenty of the twenty-three wells indicated by DWR well records during the area
reconnaissance. According to the information provided by the DWR, 14 of the 20 wells that were not located
are classified as monitoring wells, four are classified as extraction wells, one is listed as an irrigation well, and
' one is indicated as "other." According to a PG&E representative, PG&E is the owner of the well designated as
"other." Of the three remaining we]Is:
• One well was destroyed.
Two wells (monitoring)that are indicated on one well record were identified. -
The California Water Code, Section 13752, allows any person performing an environmental cleanup study to
obtain Well Driller's Reports (DWR records) from the DWR. In the agreement that Condor and the
governmental agency signed to obtain these DWR records, it is stipulated that these DWR records are not to be
made available for public inspection. According to the DWR, no information contained in the DWR records
can be disseminated or published without written permission of the owner of the well. According to the Water
Code, Section 13752, these reports are"not to be used for any purpose other than for the purpose of conducting
1 the study." Consequently, the DWR record referenced above is provided to the CRWQCB in a separate
envelope stamped "confidential" and is not included within this report. Submittal of the DWR record to the
CRWQCB will allow correlation of the well log with the well location indicated below.
DWR Well Record Number 468375
A well record for a property located at 151 S. Main Street (Wl-2 in Figure 5, Appendix A) indicates
that two monitoring wells, described as MW-7 and MW-8, were installed in 1996. These wells are part
of a group of monitoring and extraction wells. The extraction wells for which Condor received four
well records were not visible during our area reconnaissance. The two monitoring wells are located
approximately 1,000 feet north of the site.
Four well locations not included in the information provided by the DWR (identified as W3. W4-12, W13-17,
10 and W18 in Figure 5, Appendix A) were identified during our area reconnaissance. W3, a municipal well, is
located at 323 (33 1) Jessie Avenue, approximately 1,500 feet west of the site. W4-12, nine monitoring wells,
are located at 419 S. Main Street, the site, including the one located across Wetmore Avenue. W13-17, five
ow1
' i 1 CONDOR
