SC&D Boyett Petroleri»t
' 419 South Main Street May 22, 1998
• Manteca, California Page. 3
' 3.2 Soil Sampling
' Ail soil sampling equipment will be thoroughly cleaned before and between
sampling to prevent cross contamination. Relatively undisturbed soil samples will
' be taken at intervals of not more than 5 feet in order to evaluate the subsurface
materials, however, this sampling interval may be waived saturated sands in which
sample recovery is not possible.
' The soil samples will be taken using Geo-Probe Spoon sampler with liners. The
sampler will be driven continuously by rotary hammer.
' The laboratory samples will not have head space and will be immediately sealed in
their liners using aluminum foil-lined plastic caps. The remaining sample will be
' removed from it's liner to be used as an aide to the on-site specialist in logging the
material at that depth.
' Soil samples collected for analysis will be analyzed using EPA Method 8015
modified for total petroleum hydrocarbons in the gasoline range, EPA Method
8020 for BTX&E compounds and EPA Method 8260 for oxygenates. The
minimum detection limits used for each analyte will be .005 mg/kg for BTX&E,
and 2.5 mg/kg for gasoline. Analyses are to be conducted by California
Laboratory Services, Inc., a State-certified laboratory in Rancho Cordova,
' California.
Prepared by:
Ev1Rox°r
W.H.
