C • Safety Shoes (shoes or boots with steel toes and shanks) <br /> • Gloves. <br /> 29 CFR 1926.100, 101, and 102 should be consulted for additional information. <br /> Items listed below should be worn when conditions warrant their use. Some of the <br /> conditions are listed after each item. <br /> • Safety goggles or glasses. Use when: (1) driving pins in and out of drive chains, <br /> (2) replacing keys in tongs, (3) handling hazardous chemicals, (4)renewing or <br /> tightening guage glasses, (5) breaking concrete, brick or cast iron, (6) cleaning <br /> material with chemical solutions, (7) hammering or sledging on chisels,cold cuts, <br /> or bars, (8)cutting wire lines, (9) grinding on abrasive wheels, (10) handling <br /> materials in powdered or semi-powdered form, (11) scraping metal surfaces, (12) <br /> sledging rock bits or core heads to tighten or loosen them, (13) hammering fittings <br /> and connections, (14)driving holding rivets and (15) splash hazard (chemical or <br /> or other liquid) exists. <br /> • Safety Belts and Lifelines. Safety belts and lifelines should be worn by all <br /> personnel working on top of an elevated derrick beam. The lifeline should be <br /> secured at a position that will allow a person to fall no more than six feet. The <br /> lifeline shall meet the requirements stipulated in EM 385-1-1, Sections 07.A.13 - <br /> 07.A.21. <br />
