CMove auger cuttings away from the auger with a long-handled shovel or spade, <br /> never use hands or feet. <br /> Never clean an auger attached to the drill rig unless the engine is off, and the auger <br /> has stopped rotting. <br /> 509.8 Safe Use of Hand Tools <br /> Rules described in 29 CFR 1926.301, 302, EM 385-1-1, whichever is more <br /> restrictive, shall be observed in addition to the guidelines provided below: <br /> • Each tool should be used only to perform task for which it was originally designed- <br /> Damaged <br /> esignedDamaged tools should be repaired before use or discarded. <br /> • Safety goggles or glasses should be worn when using a hammer of chisel.
