Kettleman Lane
Lodi, CA
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division
(PHS/EHD) has reviewed Quarterly Reports dated February 14, 1994 and March 23,
1994; and the "Work Plan for Cleanup Confirmation" dated March 22, 1994, prepared
by Brown and Caldwell for the above referenced site.
Petroleum hydrocarbon contaminants have not been detected in any of the
groundwater samples analyzed since May 1993. The vapor extraction system
influent concentrations appear to be declining. PHS/EHD requested that
groundwater samples be analyzed for lead in April 1991 but to date this analysis
has not been conducted. Please include analysis for lead in some of the soil
samples to be analyzed from proposed soil boring B3 and future groundwater
samples from monitoring well W-3.
The proposed confirmation soil sampling via soil borings does not investigate
possible soil contamination remaining under the street. Slant soil borings to
collect soil samples beneath Kettleman Lane and Hutchins Street will be required
for cleanup confirmation. Adding the slant borings to the work plan should be
considered.
The disposition of the soil generated during drilling of the soil borings and
monitoring well was not discussed in the work plan. Please submit an addendum
to the work plan which discusses the plan for handling and disposal of the soil.
Include with this addendum, permit applications for each property with proposed
soil borings and the $89 permit fee, encroachment permits from the City of Lodi
for borings in the sidewalks, and written permission from private property owners
for borings on their property.
If you have any questions contact Margaret Lagorio at (209) 468-3449.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
'f r
MargareY Lagorio, Lead Senior REHS Diane M.
