r^ '
i
r
g.
----------,
Results of Initial Investigation and Work Plan December 18, 1990
ARCO Service Station No. 2076, Lodi, California AGS 30008-2
the GSX Lokern Facility in Buttonwillow, California, for analysis to establish a profile for
soil disposed at a later date.
1.&fmm1ory Analyses and Results
O Soil samples collected at 10-foot intervals and the bottom two samples at 5-foot intervals
from each boring were submitted to the laboratory. Soil samples selected for analyses were
analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) and benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, and total xylene isomers (BTEX). TPHg analyses were conducted using
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) preparation Method 5030 and modified EPA
Method 8015. BTEX analyses were conducted using EPA Method 8020. The composite
¢s soil sample was.analyzed for TPHg, BTEX, and organic lead. Organic lead was analyzed
by methods approved by the California Department of Health Services.
i
t The laboratory analyses were performed by Applied Analytical Environmental Laboratories
j' in Fremont, California (Hazardous Waste Testing Laboratory Certificate No. 121.1), and .
Mobile Chem Labs Inc. of Martinez, California (Hazardous Waste Testing Laboratory
Certificate No. 195). Copies of laboratory analytical reports are in Appendix B. '
Results of laboratory analyses of soil samples are presented in Table 2. Results of analyses
indicate that concentrations of TPHg and BTEX were belowdetection limits in samples
collected from borings B-2, B-4, and B-5. TPHg was not detected in the samples collected
r
from borings B-1 and B-3 drilled near the underground storage tanks. Total BTEX
concentration were less than 0.15 part per million (ppm) in boring B-lin the samples
collected in boring B-1 at 10 and 15 feet below grade. Benzene was.detected at 0.08 ppm
- - -- in the sample collected from-boring B-3 at 25 feet bele:,-grade:toluene,ethylbenxene.and --- — - -- -
../ 7
