r <br /> June 25, 1992 <br /> ARCO Service Station No 2076, Lodi, California <br /> Removal of 11nderground Tanks and Product Lines <br /> On November 20, 1991, a geologist from RESNA observed the removal of five single-walled <br /> gasoline-storage tanks and associated product lines. Our geologist noted there were no signs <br /> of leaks, pitting, or holes in the tanks. Ms Letitia Resch of the San Joaquin County Public <br /> Health Services, Environmental Health Division (SJCPHS-EHD), and Mr. Dave Carroll of <br />` ARCO observed the tank removal The tanks were removed by ARCO's subcontractor, <br /> Golden West of Brentwood, California. The tanks were transported by H and H Shipping <br /> Services of San Francisco, California, to their facility <br /> Soil Sampling Under Former Tanks <br /> After the tanks were removed, two vertical trenches were excavated to 14 feet below grade <br />� . (approximately 2 feet below the base of the former tanks) under each former tank and two <br /> soil samples were collected from under each former tank Sample locations are shown on <br /> Plate 2 In addition, a soil sample was collected from the eastern sidewall of the tank <br /> cavity next to the station building Pursuant to RESNA's September 1991 work plan, the <br /> tank cavity was not over-excavated <br /> Soil Sampling Under the Former Product Lines <br /> We observed the excavation of soil between 1 to 4 feet below grade and the removal of <br /> former product and vapor-return lines near the dispenser islands Product and vapor-return <br /> Imes were removed from the north side of the southern dispenser, and from the north and <br /> south sides of the northern dispenser. <br /> 3M-3 3 <br />
