June 25, 1992
ARCO Service Station No. 2076, Lodi, California
We collected soil samples from the product-line trenches at approximately 20-foot intervals
beginning on November 21, 1991 Our geologist noted vapor pots adjacent to the former
product lines and discoloration of soil at the location where sample S-3-PL1 was collected
e Additional soil samples were collected beneath the product lines on December 2, 1991 and
December 4, 1991 Sample locations shown on Plate 2.
Excavating and Smpling the New Tank Cavity
On November 21 and 22, 1991, we observed the excavation of a new tank cavity to
approximately 12 feet below grade On November 22, 1991, we collected samples from the
base of the excavation and from the eastern and western limits of the new tank cavity The
limits of the new tank cavity and sample locations are shown on Plate 2
i Sampling Stockpiled Soll
Soil excavated from beneath the old tanks, product lines, and the new tank cavity was
stockpiled onsite in the locations shown on Plate 3. We collected four soil samples from
approximately every 50 cubic yards according to the methods described in Appendix A
Soil excavated from the new tank cavity was stockpiled east of the new tank cavity and
sampled on November 25 and 26, 1991 (piles 1 through 15 on Plate 3) The excavated soil
from the former tank cavity was stockpiled south of the station building and sampled on
November 22, 1991 (piles 16 through 21 on Plate 3) Excavated soil from the product-line
trenches was stockpiled north of the former tank cavity and sampled on November 26 and
December 4, 1991 (piles 22 through 26 on Plate 3).
3000s-s 4
