Chuck. Carmel Page 3
immediately. Remediation will proceed when the contamination has been defined and equipment is
available.
Facility 434 at Sol W. Kettleman Lane, Lodi
PHS/EHD contact - Margaret L.agorio
Extraction of the groundwater was started but grou dwater sample results indicated contamination
was non-detectable so the system was turned off. Tle system will be operated intermittently. If the
sample results continue to indicate non-detect, the groundwater extraction system will not be used.
Monitoring well MW-2 is biofouled. Attempts of jet ing and ramming it out have been unsuccessful.
Vapor extraction and quarterly monitoring will cont ue.
i
Facility 6100 at 25773 Patterson Pass Road,Tracy
PHS/EHD contact - Margaret Lagorio
Soil boring B-26,drilled on the other side of Patterson Pass Road, from the station, showed evidence
of soil contamination to a depth of 110 feet. Additional investigation of the soil has been proposed.
Depth to groundwater for this site remains to be confirmed. The on-site water supply well depth to
water after its development was 100 feet below ground surface. PHS/EHD requests the current depth
to water in this well be determined. Site investigation will continue and remediation will proceed j
when the investigation has been completed and equipment is available.
Facility 2093 at 3425 N.Tracy Boulevard,Tracy
PHS/EHD contact - Harlin Knoll
This site has soil and groundwater contamination with one on-site well containing free phase i!
petroleum hydrocarbon. Arco and Brown&Caldwell i plan to install piping to the existing monitoring
well and begin vapor extraction soon. Groundwater monitoring and sampling will continue on a
quarterly basis until cleanup is complete.
Facility 760 at 225 S. Cherokee Lane, Lodi
PHS/EHD contact - Linda Turkatte
i
The current proposal for additional soil borings/vapor wells in the area to the west, to the north and
to the east of the former waste oil tank was discussed and the additional work was considered to be
warranted.
s
The area of B-5 and B-20/VW-10 was discussed. Although the laboratory results showed non-detect
for the total depth of the borings, the field observations indicated the borings to be contaminated to
their total depth. An explanation for the apparent discrepancies between the field observations and
the laboratory results may be the way the samples were handled in the field before they were
submitted to the laboratory. Nevertheless, this area is considered to be an area of concern for j
PHS/EHD. However,it appears that it will be encompassed within the estimated radius of influence
of the proposed remediation system and will be addressed.
The new tank pit area was also discussed as an area of concern for PHS/EHD. Contamination was
noted during soil sampling at 12 feet below ground surface (BGS) in this area before the installation
of the new tanks. However, the subsequent soil borings indicated non-detect conditions to their total
depth of 20 feet BGS. It is unclear why the contamination was not detected in the subsequent borings
and that additional confirmation work will need to be done to verify this area is no longer a problem.
In addition,it was discussed that the estimate of the radius of influence of the remediation system may
be conservative and RESNA feels that the remediation efforts would also reach this area.
