INTRODUCTION
As directed in the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department's (EHD) letter dated
14 January 2005,Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc (AGE) has revised the Site Assessment Work
Plan, prepared and submitted to EHD in November 2004 to assess hydrocarbon-impacted soil and
ground water at 1301 West Kettleman Lane, Lodi, California This revision includes a revised site
conceptual model, a proposal for installation and testing of an ozone infection system for interim
ground water remediation instead of the originally proposed ground water extraction system, and
temporary batch ground water removal to control offsite migration of methyl tertiary butyl ether
(MTBE)-impacted ground water
This revised work plan also addresses several EHD comments regarding a mapping error, the site
conceptual model, and site remedial methods referred to in the January 2005 directive letter
• Comment 2 - EHD discovered a scaling error(30 feet per inch instead of 20 feet per inch)
on selected site maps,AGE has corrected this error, which is reflected in the attached figures
• Comment 3-EHD stated that a"site conceptual modeljustifymg the work proposed was not
• submitted "Section 3 0 ,Site Conceptual Model,of the Site Assessment Work Plan included
a discussion of site hydrostratigraphy and the lateral and vertical extent of soil and ground
water contamination However, fate and transport was not discussed, the discussion is
included in the revised Site Conceptual Model presented in this work plan
• Comment 4 - After discussions with the City of Lodi as well as EHD regarding disposal of
extracted and treated ground water, AGE determined that the feasibility of utilizing ground f
water extraction as a means of remediation will not be cost effective The City of Lodi will f/
only allow discharge to the industrial sewer system located on the south side of Kettleman
Lane, which would entail extensive CalTrans permitting
• Comment 5 - AGE agrees with EI-IDs conclusion that a separate investigation should be
performed if a release is suspected from the current underground storage tank(UST)system
If a preponderance of evidence indicates a possible release, a separate investigation will be
initiated
• Comment 6 - There was a typographical error in that portion of the text stating " lateral
extent of the ground water plume is not defined to the south or east", this statement should
be" is not defined to the south or west"The previous line in the text read" based on the
current area bounded by wells MW-1 through MW-7, the lateral extent of the dissolved
petroleum hydrocarbon plume is defined to the north by MW-4 and to the east by MW-6 "
• Although concentrations of MTBE in well MW-5 have increased to above 100 micrograms
. per liter (µg/1) during the past two quarters of monitoring, EHD has determined that "the
Advanced GeoEnvwronmental,Inc
