1 02 February 2004
AGE-NC Protect No 99-0624
_Page 4of8
' 2 2 QUARTERLY WELL MONITORING PROCEDURES
A quarterly ground water monitoring event was performed on 22 September 2003 on ground water
' monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-4, MW-6 and MW-7
' 2 2 1 Well Monitoring and Evacuation
The depth to ground water in the six monitoring wells was measured from the top of each well '
' casing to the nearest 0 01-foot utilizing a Solinst water level meter Ground water elevation in each
well was calculated by subtracting the measured depth to ground water from the surveyed casing
elevation (Table 1)
' After water levels were measured approximately 5 0 gallons of water a minimum of 3 casing-water
pp Y g ( g
volumes per well) were purged from monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-4 and MW-6 and
' approximately 17 50 gallons ofwater were removed from well MW-7 using a Watera hydrolift pump
and dedicated tubing Ground water temperature, pH and conductivity were measured at regular
' intervals during purging using an Oakton water analyzer Field sheets and data are included in
Appendix D Purged water was stored in properly labeled DOT-approved 55-gallon drums and stored
on-site
1
2 2 2 Collection and Analysis of Ground Water Samples
' Water samples were collected from each purged well using a Watera hydrohft pump and dedicated
tubing after allowing the wells to achieve a minimum 80%recovery of the pre-purge water volume
' Each water sample was transferred into three 40-m1 VOA vials containing 0 5 ml 18%hydrochloric
acid as a sample preservative After collection, the samples were properly labeled, placed in a chilled
container and transported under chain-of-custody to CAL for analysis The samples were analyzed
' for
• TPH-g in accordance with EPA Method 8015M,
' 6 BTEX and MTBE, in accordance with,EPA Method 8020, and
• MTBE, DIPE, ETBE, TAME, TBA, 1,2-DCA and EDB in accordance with EPA Method
8260B
Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc
I
