• The letters "ex" for excavation followed by "#1" for Excavation#1 and "#2" for <br /> Excavation#2; <br /> • A letter for the location, E-east and W-west along with SW-Sidewall, or B-Bottom; <br /> • A sequential number indicating feet from excavation origin (northern boundary), 0-0 feet, <br /> 25-25 feet; and <br /> • The depth below ground surface where the sample was collected: 2' bgs. <br /> For example: EX1-E-SW-50-2 and EX2-B-50-4 <br /> Labels for all collected samples will be filled out completely with the following information: site <br /> location, field ID number, collection date and time, collector's name and preservative. Except <br /> for the field screening test samples, all samples will be sent to a laboratory and will be kept in <br /> coolers, chilled to 4°C, and accompanied by a chain of custody (COC). The COC will be filled <br /> out completely with the specific analyses requested, number of samples, date and time of <br /> collection, and signed by the originator. The laboratory will send a copy with all signatures to <br /> the Tetra Tech manager. <br /> The samples including the quality control sample will be sent overnight to Tetra Tech's <br /> contracted laboratory, Associated Laboratories in Orange, CA. The QA samples will be either <br /> picked up by a laboratory courier or sent overnight to the USACE designated laboratory. <br /> 5.0 BALLAST WASHING <br /> The ballast will be washed with a low flow, high pressure steam cleaner to remove any <br /> petroleum hydrocarbon contamination. The ballast is first placed on a 20 mil liner in the staging <br /> area.
