2.0 WATER SAMPLING
Four water samples will be collected from the excavations via hydropunch sampling. A push
probe rig will be utilized to obtain the water samples. Soil samples will not be taken from the
sampling locations. Once the push probe has reached the target sampling depth, 2-feet below the
water table, a bailer will be utilized to obtain the water samples. The five samples along with I
duplicate for quality control will be analyzed for TPH by EPA method 8015 Modified for diesel
and hydraulic oil.
Water from the decontamination activities will be collected in a 55-gallon drum and disposed
with the contaminated soils. No sampling of decontamination water will be necessary.
3.0 SAMPLE SUMMARY
The following table shows all soil and groundwater samples to be taken.
Sample Type Number of Where Analyzed Analysis
Samples
Soil 25 includes Associated Laboratories TPH—diesel and hydraulic oil
2 QC
Soil 13 Immunoassay field kit TPH—diesel and hydraulic oil
Soil 2 Quality Assurance Lab TPH—diesel and hydraulic oil
To be designated by USACE
Ballast 4 * Associated Laboratories TPH—diesel and hydraulic oil
Soil for disposal 2 * Associated Laboratories TPH-diesel, hydraulic oil, BTEX,
TTLC metals (Cd, Cr, Pb, Ni, and
Zn)
Groundwater 5 includes Associated Laboratories TPH—diesel and hydraulic oil
1 QC
* =Estimated
4.0 SAMPLE IDENTIFICATION AND HANDLING
A unique sample identification number will be given to each sample based upon excavation,
location, and depth.
