Three gasoline tanks identified as tank 39-2257-01 ,
tank 39-2257-02, and tank 39-2257-03 were nested together in the northern excavation, and three
diesel tanks identified as tank 39-2257-04, tank 39-2257-05 , and tank 39-2257-06 were nested
together in the southern excavation.
Analytical results, of soil sampling from the southern excavation, indicate that there is residual
soil contamination remaining in the area of sample T6-4 , reported as 5 . 1 parts per million (ppm)
total petroleum hydrocarbons as Diesel, which will not significantly impact groundwater.
Remedial activities in this area will not require additional over excavation within the next 90
days , therefore, the tank excavation should be back filled with clean fill soil.
Analytical results, of the three grab water samples taken beneath the USTs in the southern
excavation, were reported to have a level of contamination in the range of 240 to 1200 parts per
billion (ppb) of Diesel. The presence of contamination in the grab water sample from a UST
excavation usually is not an indication of a groundwater contamination plume . However, in the
event that a groundwater investigation is initiated, you may be required to install groundwater
monitoring wells in this area.
Analytical results of soil samples taken from the northern excavation at a depth of 8 . 5 feet,
during the UST removal, indicate the presence of an unauthorized release of petroleum
hydrocarbon contamination. Groundwater at this site has been encountered at a depth of eleven
feet below ground surface . PHS/EHD requires installation of monitoring wells , when
groundwater is less than five feet from documented soil contamination.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
