SITE CODE 2251
425 Larch Road RO: 252
Tracy, CA 95376
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has received and reviewed
Addendum to Interim Corrective Action Plan (AICAP), dated 14 April 200 (received 11 May
2006), for the Frontier Transportation Property located at 425 Larch Roa;Tracy, California.
The AICAP was prepared and submitted on your behalf by Biophyyyyyyylcs Environmental
Assessments, Inc. (BEAI). In the AICAP, BEAI notes, states or proposes the following:
• The recent occurrence of free product (free phase gasoline) in monitoring wells MW-2
and MW-21.
• Soil in the depth interval between 15 feet and more than 18 feet below surface grade
(bsg) is impacted by free phase gasoline.
• BEAI "agrees"that soil analysis identifies almost exclusively heterogeneous clay to silty,
fine-grained sand that has low permeability, rendering soil vapor extraction (SVE) of
limited value in the vadose zone.
• BEAI "concurs" that neutron logging thermalization (NTL) will not be useful for
corrective action with the current site conditions as the occurrence of free product
removes the possibility for using ozone injection/sparging, and the "benefit of NTL was
to monitor the aqueous migration of the ozone injection". (NTL name and acronym as
stated by BEAL)
• An estimated 11,220 gallons of free phase gasoline impacts soil in the shallow saturated
zone in the former underground storage tank (UST) area.
• BEAI"agrees"that excavation should be reattempted in the former UST area.
• BEAI proposes aquifer testing utilizing monitoring wells MW-8 and MW-9, with
installation of four additional monitoring wells for use as observation wells during the
aquifer pumping test.
• Installation of passive skimmers in monitoring wells MW-2 and MW-21 to remove free
product.
