(EMS), on your
behalf for the above-referenced site. The EHD directed the submittal of a work plan for
groundwater remediation following a conference call attended by responsible parties, Daren
Zumberge and Gus Osterkamp, consultant Javad Masoudi, PE; of EMS, and EHD personnel
Nuel Henderson, PG, Vicki McCartney and Angelica Marin in which Mr. Masoudi discussed
findings from performing depth-discrete groundwater pump tests.
In the work plan EMS proposes:
• Destruction of dual-phase extraction wells: DPE4, DPE5, DPE7, DPE9, DPE10 and
monitoring well MW-3R, in addition to the destruction of eight monitoring wells: MW-6,
MW-7, MW-10 through MWA2, and MWA4 through MWA6, previously approved by the
EHD by letter dated 18 July 2013;
• Groundwater extraction to remediate the methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) groundwater
plume;
• Installation of two six-inch-diameter-casing groundwater extraction wells, EW1 and EW2,
with total depths of approximately fourteen feet below surface grade (bsg) at locations
illustrated on Figure 9 of the work plan;
• Continuous collection of soil samples from five to sixteen feet bsg for field observation to
identify permeable soil intervals in which to set the well screens when advancing the
initial boreholes for the two extraction wells;
• Storage of groundwater pumped from the two extraction wells in tanks prior to removal
of the groundwater under manifest to off-site permitted and licensed disposal facilities;
