9.2 DECONTAMINATION PROCEDURES <br /> i >J In order to assure that contamination is controlled and not spread from the site, <br /> decontamination procedures will be employed for both equipment and personnel. All <br /> decontamination activity will be monitored to assure compliance with the procedures described <br /> below. <br /> -J Decontamination of personnel and equipment will be required following the monitoring <br /> activities . Decontamination procedures will be developed for both equipment and personnel. A <br /> distinction will be made between personnel equipment and monitoring equipment for purposes of <br /> decontamination. <br /> 9.2.1 STANDARD DECONTAMINATION <br /> All field personnel exiting from the site must pass through a personnel contamination <br /> I reduction corridor (CRC) . At a minimum, all personnel exiting the site will remove all protective <br /> J clothing and wash their face and hands before entering lunch and break areas to eat, drink or smoke. <br /> All personnel will perform a field wash (as defined below) before leaving the site. All coveralls, <br /> gloves, and other protective wear will be containerized in 55-gallon drums . Decontamination of <br /> J equipment will be performed with a triple rinse of Liquinox water, rinse water, and deionized water. <br /> A temporary CRC will be established by spreading a waterproof ground sheet and using <br /> several tubs for personnel decontamination. The area will be established by the SSO in discussion <br /> with the HSC and BEE Project Manager. <br /> ! On-site showering will not be required as part of the routine decontamination procedure. <br /> - However, a shower will be taken at the end of the working day after returning from the site to <br /> ,i complete the decontamination process before the next meal or retiring for the day. <br /> Disposal equipment, including respirator cartridges, must be placed in heavy plastic bags or <br /> directly into 55-gallon drums for off-site disposal in an approved manner. Used decontamination <br /> solutions will also be stored in 55-gallon drums . <br /> 9.2.2 EMERGENCY DECONTAMINATION <br /> -I In the event that a seriously injured person is suspected of being contaminated, the SSO or <br /> other site worker will wrap the injured individual in clean plastic sheeting to prevent contamination <br /> of the ambulance. Less severely injured individuals will have their protective clothing carefully cut <br /> - off before transport to the hospital. <br /> 9.2.3 COVERALLS <br /> If coveralls are sent off-site for cleaning, the cleaner establishment will be notified of any <br /> hazards prior to receiving the coveralls. <br /> 9.3 WATER AVAILABILITY <br /> 1 <br /> � Potab e water will be available on-site.
